Welcome!

Welcome to the 48th Annual Institute and Conference of the National Black Nurses Association, Inc. Virtual Experience!

Our theme for this Virtual Conference is Nursing Resilience:
Disruptions in Practice, Research, Education, Policy and Entrepreneurship

The frontline nurse champions show resilience through novel approaches to the nursing practice. “Disruptions” or innovations demonstrate new concepts to deliver safe, high quality, patient-centered care while at the same time promoting nursing in a variety of areas, practice, research, education, policy, and entrepreneurship. The “disruptions” may offer better patient outcomes, lower costs to the health care system and offer the agility that nurses need to practice at their scope of practice and the top of their game.

Attend this year’s Virtual Conference and:

    • Discuss disruptive trends in health care delivery and financing.
    • Examine emerging opportunities for transforming the future of nursing through innovative nursing/ interdisciplinary practice, education, research, and policy advocacy.
    • Identify new models of care to reduce inequities in health care and health outcomes for minority and underserved communities.

Download the Whova App to join the conference!

This year, join the virtual conference by downloading the Whova app, available on both IOS and android.

Overcoming Racial Disparities in the Treatment of Prostate Cancer Sponsored by: Pfizer (non-CE)

Research has shown that black men have a higher occurrence of advanced prostate cancer (PC) and worse survival than white men. However, black patients with advanced PC may also have better outcomes in response to appropriate treatment, compared to white patients. Overall survival in black vs. white veterans with advanced PC was retrospectively estimated based on claims in the Veterans Health Administration. (VHA) Database from April, 2013 to March, 2018. The results of the study suggest that – when treated with novel hormonal therapies and having the same access to health care – black patients with advanced PC may have better overall survival than white patients.”
